LOOK AT THE TRAINING, NOT JUST THE YEARS Ten years of experience do not mean the same thing if the person trained at an accredited school or learned from watching videos. A good massage therapist studies anatomy, physiology, specific techniques and contraindications. In our case, Katerine trained in classical massage therapy at the Massage School of Colombia and Dora Luz holds a degree in chiromassage. Both of us keep training every year.
READ REVIEWS WITH A CRITICAL EYE There is a difference between someone with 200 Google reviews and reviews that talk about real results: "they relieved a contracture I had for months", "I felt better after the first session". Generic "friendly service" reviews are fine, but the ones describing actual results matter more.
ASK ABOUT A FREE FIRST CONSULTATION A good centre does not charge you to assess your needs. The first consultation is for the therapist to understand what you need, feel the areas of tension and recommend the right treatment. If they charge you just to talk, think twice.
LOOK AT THE SPACE Cleanliness, atmosphere, music, smell. All of it matters. A well-cared-for space shows that the person takes their work seriously. At our Sant Agustí centre we have designed every detail so that you start relaxing from the moment you walk in.
DO NOT BASE YOUR DECISION ONLY ON THE LOWEST PRICE A 25€ massage might look like a bargain, but ask yourself how someone can charge that after paying rent, taxes, products and training. Reasonable prices in Palma for a professional 60-minute massage range between 50€ and 70€. Below that, you are probably paying someone without training or insurance.
FIND SOMEWHERE CLOSE TO HOME OR WORK How often you go for massages depends a lot on how easy it is to get there. If the centre is near your home or on your way to work, you are more likely to keep a regular routine. We are in Sant Agustí, five minutes from Cala Mayor and very close to the Paseo Marítimo.
